Recording and screenshots

The toolbar menu holds the recording settings. Choices are read when a recording starts, so changes apply to the next one.

  • Duration: Until stopped (default), or Timed for a fixed number of seconds.
  • FPS: requested capture rate, 1 to 120. The achieved rate depends on rendering and encoder throughput. See Frame rate and timing.
  • Size: 360p (640x360), 720p (1280x720, default), or 1080p (1920x1080). This is an upper limit.
  • Aspect: Match viewport (default) keeps the viewport shape within the size limit. Fixed 16:9 adds bars.
  • Seats: All (default), Host or single player, or Clients.
  • Output directory: empty uses Saved/PresentationCapture.

A recording ends when you stop it, when PIE ends, when it reaches the timed duration or the safety cap, when free disk drops below the floor, on an encoder or viewport failure, or when the editor shuts down. Up to four seats are recorded at once.

You can record again in a later PIE session without restarting the editor.

While recording, add a named marker from the console:

PresentationCapture.Marker boss_spawn
PresentationCapture.Marker checkpoint {"id":3}

The optional second argument is a payload stored with the marker.

Use the toolbar screenshot button or PresentationCapture.Screenshot. During PIE it captures every selected seat right away. Outside PIE it arms and captures at the start of the next PIE session. Screenshots are listed in screenshot-manifest.json in their folder.

PresentationCapture.Status prints the capture state, recording id, elapsed time, and free disk space.
